Biography


Dr. Dumont is a native of Montreal, Canada. He earned his undergraduate degree in biochemistry at the University of Tennessee, where he played football, before attending medical school at Emory University in Atlanta. He then completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. During his final year of residency, he was selected as Chief Resident and was awarded the W. Brandon Carrell Distinguished Physician Award for outstanding patient care.

Dr. Dumont travelled to the Alps Surgery Institute in Annecy, France, for a fellowship with Dr. Laurent Lafosse, a world leader and innovator in shoulder surgery. There, he learned cutting edge techniques in minimally invasive arthroscopic shoulder surgery. He then completed a fellowship in sports medicine & shoulder surgery at Harvard Medical School / Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where he helped care for athletes of all levels including the New England Patriots and Boston Bruins. Dr. Dumont then completed additional training in hip arthroscopy / hip preservation in Nashville with Dr. Thomas Byrd, a pioneer in the field.

Dr. Dumont specializes in the treatment of shoulder, knee and hip injuries. His clinical interests include sports medicine; shoulder instability, dislocations, labrum/rotator cuff injuries, and shoulder arthritis; knee conditions including ligament, meniscus, and cartilage injuries; and hip conditions including femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), labral injuries, snapping hip, and arthroscopic hip surgery.

He is actively involved in clinical research, focusing his efforts on the investigation of injuries and treatments of the shoulder, knee and hip. He has presented research at local and national orthopaedic meetings and authored a number of publications in the orthopaedic literature. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), and the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA).

Dr. Dumont strives to deliver outstanding care to individuals of all athletic skill and activity levels. His goal is to help his patients overcome their orthopaedic injuries to return to their desired activities and lifestyles.
